The Greenlawn-Centerport Historical Association purchased the c. 1730 Suydam House at the crossroads of Centerport Road and 25A in January of 1989. During the restoration of the one-story west wing of the house in 1993, the c. 1920 floor boards were removed. What was discovered buried in the dirt between the hand-hewn floor beams along the perimeter of the stone foundation was an overwhelming amount of pottery shards from the Huntington potteries that had operated on the east side of Huntington Harbor since the 18th century.

Come hear historian Toby Kissam, who was involved in the discovery and has researched the potteries, talk about the history of the Huntington potteries and the significance of those archeological finds.

Please register on the Harborfields Public Library website.
