Stephanie Gress is presenting: Eagle’s Nest: The William K. Vanderbilt II Estate

About our Speaker:

Stephanie is the author of “Eagle's Nest: The William K. Vanderbilt II Estate” published in 2015 by Arcadia Press. She credits her passion for the arts and history to her hometown surroundings in the historic hamlet of Saint James, New York.

Stephanie earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in art history from SUNY, Stony Brook where she also received the departmental “Award for Academic Excellence” and a Stony Brook Foundation Scholarship. She worked at the Vanderbilt Museum in Centerport from 2000-2019 where she was first a curator, and then the Director of Curatorial Affairs. In 2020, Stephanie joined Branch Financial Services, Inc. in Setauket. Her employer has a notable private collection of studio art glass and contemporary art.

Stephanie and her husband Michael live in the Village of Nissequogue, New York. They are supporters of many local arts and history organizations. Stephanie is secretary of the executive board for Gallery North in Setauket and has served on their board since 2015. She served on the Head of the Harbor Village Planning Board from 2015-2022.

The Dine and Discover series combines good food with Greenlawn, Centerport, and Long Island’s rich history.  In our series, we will feature a different speaker covering a topic relating to our local history and include a three-course meal at Mill Pond House.  Situated on the Mill Pond of Centerport, this cozy colonial built almost 100 years ago has a great history with more to come.

The program begins at 12pm and runs approximately two and a half hours.
